Saturday, April 28, 1-5PM, McLean VA & Sunday, 11AM-2PM National Gallery of Art
Join Elizabeth Hutchinson and I for a Moveable Paintbox Watercolor Quick Sketch Workshop. We will demonstrate and teach the methods we use to paint and draw with a minimum of time, space and materials--anytime, anywhere.
The workshop begins Saturday at the Jackson House, a 17th century farmhouse in McLean, VA. The afternoon of painting and drawing includes a tour of the house and light refreshments. Group and individual instruction provided, you will have an opportunity to work with both Elizabeth and Margaret. Our subject matter will include the unusual interior of the house with its antiques and collections of ceramics, as well as the grounds and gardens, weather permitting.
On Sunday we will meet at the National Gallery of Art for informal sketching, working in pencil in the galleries then finding a spot in the cafeteria to add a bit of color from our paintboxes. We will demonstrate how we allow and capture a museum experience in our sketchbooks.
The workshop is limited to 10 participants. You will receive a suggested materials list, and meeting locations upon registration.
Nearest Airport: DCA, Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport.
If you are unsure of where you'd like to stay we recommend staying in DC where there is lots to see and do.
The Jackson house is a 25 minute drive from DC. We use taxi services.
