I am excited by color, light, form and pattern. The physicality of oil paint is a source of pleasure for me. Within a painting I enjoy the play between flat passages that reveal the paint as actual paint, and more spatially convincing passages that describe form. I am curious about the ways in which organic forms and two-dimensional patterns complement each other. The life of the garden, cyclical, everchanging, colorful, and sensual, has always been a world I could lose myself in and a nourishing force in my life. The painting process mirrors that experience of rhythm, reward and immersion.
