These classes are suitable for artists at all levels of experience, including beginners.
A note on solvents: Contrary to popular belief they are not necessary for oil painting. In these classes we thin our paints, when necessary, with linseed oil and clean our brushes with that and soap.
These roving watercolor classes are designed to bring your art making practice out of the studio and into your life. The method I use has been enjoyed by experienced artists looking to expand their comfort zone as well as those brand new to painting and drawing.
Enrolled students are invited to join me on museum field trips: Friday, April 20, August 24 and October 5 in New England. I'll be sketching in pencil and adding watercolor at lunch and in the lobby. There's no charge to join me, you are responsible for your museum entrance, exact locations to be announced. Sign up here.
In these sessions we work together to facilitate your artistic growth. Classes include everything from overall concepts to nuts-and-bolts technical skills with step-by-step guidance and written followup session reports. We can craft a program for you or dive into an existing project that you would like support for. We meet in my Providence, RI studio, on Skype or at the location of your choice.
Choose from 90 minute, 2 and 3 hour sessions of one-on-one instruction with Margaret Owen. Sessions can be reserved for a single student or a group of students. (90 minutes works well for watercolor or consultation, 2 hours for online oil sessions and 3 hours for in-studio oil sessions.)
Sessions can be purchased as a gift.
Available Monday and Friday afternoons and by special arrangement.
